Film Astrophotography
I started my astrophotography hobby in 2002 using an old Olympus OM-1 camera and my Meade LX-200 telescope. While I got some excellent photos, it was only a matter of time before I went digital.
Astrophotography Equipment
It's taken a couple of years, but I finally put together a solid system for both visual and photographic astronomy.
Digital Astrophotography
When I got my Canon D60 digital SLR camera, it was time to move to digital astrophotography. I now had a Televue Pronto to go with my LX-200, so I could take wide field shots as well as narrow field.
The Dogs
I have had three golden retrievers (Aegis, Arleigh and Monty), my brother has two (Triple H and Macleod).
Aurora Gallery
View my gallery of Aurora photos taken from the Ionia, NY observatory on October 30, 2003. Included are photos of the Sun showing the sunspot complex responsible for the aurora.
The Cars
Porsche, Porsche, Porsche. And even a little Alfa and Jeep sprinkled in.

Lunar Eclipse Gallery
It was a perfect night for viewing the lunar eclipse of November 8, 2003. Temperature was in the high teens. Photographs were taken at Mendon Ponds Park at a public viewing event.

Fireworks Gallery

4th of July, 2005. Brighton town fireworks display at Meridian Centre. I had never shot fireworks before. I had a chance to practice at Canandaigua Lake on July 2, then went into the 4th armed with a decent plan. Photos taken with Canon 20D, 17-40L at 17mm, ISO 100, F8, 1- to 5-second exposures.
